Position Overview
- Role: Sunday Nursery Helper (Part-Time)
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour
- Hours: 2.5 hours per Sunday (9:45 AM – 12:15 PM). If no children arrive by 10:20 AM, helpers assist the Church School.
- Purpose: Provide a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for children (6 weeks to 3 years old) so parents can fully participate in church services and fellowship.
Key Responsibilities
- Child Care & Interaction: Provide age-appropriate care including feeding, changing diapers, putting children down for naps, and engaging them through games, stories, crafts, and Bible lessons.
- Safety & Operations: Maintain a strict 2-worker teamwork rule at all times; never leave children unattended. Ensure proper sign-in/sign-out procedures, releasing children only to authorized adults.
- Hygiene & Environment: Wash hands after diaper changes/washroom assistance, follow specific potty-time safety rules, clean/straighten the nursery before leaving, and only serve parent-provided snacks due to allergies.
- Communication: Greet families warmly, report incidents or concerns to the Children, Youth & Family Committee, and immediately contact a Warden/Rector with any major issues.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Age: Must be 18 years old (or turning 18 within the contract year).
- Screening & Training: Must pass a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check. Required to complete "Safe Church" courses, "Dismantling Racism" training, and Basic First Aid/CPR.
- Skills: Good English communication skills and a strong love for children. Awareness of emergency procedures is required.
